Profit.ly is a website that allows traders to track their live trading performance and connects them with mentors. The platform also serves as a social community for like-minded individuals looking how to trade stocks. The community continues to grow and now has over 180,000 members!
Who Owns Profit.ly?
Tim Sykes is the founder and owner of Profit.ly along with Mike Mosseri who built the website. He is a penny stock trader that became famous at a young age for turning roughly $12,000 into $2 million trading penny stocks. His name and likeness are heavily featured on the site and his prolific trading history is put on display.
Profit.ly offers several features worth highlighting. First of all, it hosts a community of traders of all experience levels. Traders post their trades as they happen, keeping you up to date on what is being traded. They can also post a comment alongside their trade, letting you know why they made their move. New traders can learn a lot from communicating with more experienced traders in the community.
Second, the website offers a place for users to upload trade information and evaluate past performance. This feature requires a membership to be taken advantage of. Keeping track of your trades and having some way to judge growth is important.
Third, the website hosts a leaderboard of all of its affiliated traders. The board can be ranked by various categories over a given range of time. You can even see what kinds of questions people are asking these high-profile traders.
Finally, the website drives traffic to the products offered by Tim Sykes and others – which are meant to teach users how to make it in the penny stock trading game.
How Much Does Profit.ly Cost?
Profit.ly offers three different plans for users to choose from – Novice, Trader, and Pro. A Novice plan will cost users $29.95 a month. A Trader plan will cost users $49.95 a month. And a Pro plan will cost users $74.95. As plans increase in cost valuable new features are introduced that are meant to entice you into the more expensive plan.
Which Level of Membership is Most Worthwhile?
Each plan works much the same, but certain features are limited with Novice and Trader. Novice accounts do not receive trade alerts, nor are they able to create private profiles – they can however view other people’s stats. Trader accounts cannot view other people’s accounts, but they do receive trade alerts and can create private profiles. Pro accounts receive trade alerts, can view other people’s stats, and create private profiles.
We believe that if you are serious about getting into trading you should do whatever you can to improve your odds of success. Many of the services and products offered by Profit.ly appear to have great reviews and are likely useful for those just getting started in the business. To get the most out of this website we’d suggest getting a subscription.
Profit.ly currently lists two individuals as “Gurus,” which are the site’s premiere mentors. One of these gurus is the aforementioned Tim Sykes – whose teachings you can pay to access – and the other is an individual that goes by Paul Scolardi aka Superman!
Tim Sykes offers two levels of membership for his teachings. Tim’s Alerts, which costs $74.95 a month, offers daily chat room access, daily top 5 – 10 stock watchlist, real time alerts to email and text. Pennystocking Silver, which costs $149.95 a month, offers all of these things as well as 6,000+ video lessons, and new video lessons every week.
Over the last few years the number of guru’s has slowly decreased from over five to just two.
Profit.ly gurus who left include:
- Connor Bruggemann – the high school penny stock trader left the industry and now works in venture capital.
- Jason Bond – allegedly removed by Sykes for trying to hide big losses.
- Cameron Fous – thought a short-term swing trading strategy but later fell out with Tim Sykes and
- Triforce Trader – didn’t manage to attract a lot of students but still has two DVD’s in the Profit.ly store.
- Investors Underground – left in 2015 to move back to his own website.
One of the most prominent sections of its website, Profit.ly’s leaderboard lists traders by certain categories over a length of time. The default category is total earnings all-time. Including Superman and Tim Sykes, there are six individuals listed on the board who have earned more than $5 million! The most interesting feature associated with the leaderboard is the ability to send messages to these traders and view all of their past and active trades. These features require a membership but, given how successful many of these individuals are, could potentially be worth the money.
